We're so appreciative of all of our visitors doing their best to help us in our mission of promoting the protection of Lake Koronis! Thank you for following the advice found below, and a very special thank you to Ms. Hall's class for helping us to compile some of these tips.
Follow local boating regulations
Familiarize yourself with local boating regulations, including speed limits, no-wake zones, and restrictions on certain activities.
Prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species
Remove any visible plants, animals, or mud and ensure that all water is drained before leaving the area! Follow all recommended DNR practices to reduce transmission of AIS in to or out of Lake Koronis.
Minimize wake impact
Operate your boat at appropriate speeds, especially near shorelines and sensitive habitats.
Dispose of waste properly
Carry a trash bag with you to ensure that all waste is taken care of appropriately. If you do not have one on hand, use designated waste receptacles for trash and recycling to prevent water contamination. These are available at most access points.
Keep Chemicals Away
If you need to refuel your boat, please do so away from the water's edge. If you're washing your boat, please do so on grass or gravel to minimize or eliminate the chance of soap or other chemicals getting into the water.
Respect Lake Wildlife
Koronis is home to many wonderful native flora and fauna. Please do not disturb do not disturb wildlife if you are enjoying recreational equipment by swimming or steering clear of any birds or creatures. If you happen to be fishing, please ensure that no fishing gear is left behind and follow all fishing regulations so that we can protect our fish populations!
