Do you want a Koronis Lake Shirt? All proceeds go to support association projects!
Koronis Lake has inspired hundreds of thousands of people over her history. She has been a home, a source of food and income, a beacon of joy and community. Koronis Lake and her beauty is the reason why community members came together - in service and in protection.
These are the stories of our community members, past and present. Share in the beauty of Koronis and those who have settled here.
There are many that have come to call Koronis Lake their home. Some visit us for just a season and some stay for a lifetime. In either case, they are part of our shared history and are even sometimes inspired to share what they have come to love and learn about the lake. Below are a collection of stories and photos that capture Koronis through her many years.
Long before Lake Koronis became known for fireworks, fish houses, and summer getaways, its shores were home to Indigenous peoples for thousands of years. For generations, Native families spent their summers here, and traces of their presence remain all around us. One of the oldest human-made structures in the area still overlooks the lake: an ancient burial mound atop a 100-foot hill along the southeastern shore...
In 2025, the Koronis Lake Association and Paynesville Area Historical Society came together to remember. Many individuals stepped forward to share their stories of Koronis and the surrounding areas from throughout their life.
Koronis was here long before we were and with intention, will be here long after us, but through these small snapshots of our lives, we can understand her better.
